The statute further outlines instances where the theft is valued at $100,000 or more or was a semitrailer used by law enforcement, or if the property was valued at $50,000 or more and has entered the stream of interstate or intrastate commerce from the shipper to the consignee. It also talks about if the offender commits grand theft (stealing property whose value exceeds $750) and in the course of the offense uses a motor vehcle or causes damage to real or personal property of another.

WHAT IS SHOPLIFTING?

Shoplifting is illegally remove property from a merchant. It can also involve altering price tags in such a manner to reflect a cheaper price. The value of the property shoplifted has an effect on the charges.

Petit theft is when a person steals or tries to steal property from a person or business when the value of the property is less than $750.
